There are several projects at Ministry Haven that we need outside help with accomplishing. If you or a work group from your church would like to come to beautiful western Colorado to help us with some of the projects listed below, please contact us. Most of these jobs are too big for us to handle on our own so we need your help.
If you cannot come help with the physical work, maybe you could help us by funding one or more of these projects. Unless otherwise stated in the list below we do not have the funding we need to complete the project.
Jobs listed are not in any sort of priority order. You may help with any job on the list.
Termite Damage: URGENT NEED! – Termite damage was discovered in our host house during the demolition of the old siding. New siding work is near completion, however, we now need $3,500 for termite treatment. We have raised $2,000 but we still need $1.500.
Bark Beetle Killing Our Trees: URGENT NEED! Ministry Haven is in a Pinion Pine forest. With the current drought we are experiencing the trees are in a weakened condition. This weakened state makes the trees a prime target for bark beetles. This strain of beetle attacks pinion pines exclusively. They have killed numerous trees on the Ministry Haven property. We are hoping to participate in a grant program through the National Forest Service where they will reimburse our expenses up to 75% to thin out our dying trees. Not only will it help with the bark beetle infestation it is also provides protection from wild fires.
The trees pictured here died in a matter of a month once the bark beetles attacked them. Once they kill the tree they move on to surrounding trees. In order to stop them the infested trees need to be cut down and removed from the property.
We are not yet sure what the cost will be. We’ve heard estimates of around $3,500 from other people who have participated in the program. Hopefully the grant will cover about half the expense (could be more and it could be less). We may also need help cutting trees.

Guest Units Building:
We are making progress on the upgrades to the Guest Unit Building. In 2017 we were able to replace 3 of the windows, one in Unit 1 and two in Unit 2. We also removed the old, flammable shake shingles on the front of the units and replaced them with siding, new trim and paint. There is still more work to be done on this building but we have made a great start.
Job #7: COMPLETED! Replace old single pane windows with new dual pain energy efficient vinyl windows. There are
eight five two more windows that need to be replaced. Thank you Milford Christian Church
Job #8: COMPLETED! Replace siding of guest unit. Current siding is weathered and woodpeckers keep making holes in the siding and nesting in the walls. Thank you Milford Christian Church for the outstanding job on our guest units!
